that Little Italian Kitchen:
Creative Cuisine with Heart
A local restaurant and catering business with a passion for food and people, That Little Italian Kitchen in Canton prides itself on making every meal special, from takeout orders to wedding receptions.
For the love of food
Owner Therese Maisano Schneider start- ed That Little Italian Kitchen in 2008 to bring her family’s traditional Italian recipes, passed down through the generations, to the local community.
“I cook the exact same way in my restaurant as I do in my own home,” Therese says. “If you’re coming over to my
house, everything is made with
love. There is nothing I enjoy more than meeting people and serving delicious food, and this business gives me the ability to do both on a daily basis.”
That Little Italian Kitchen is known for its delicious classic Italian dishes, including home- made lasagna, Italian meatball bake, chicken piccata, eggplant parmesan, shrimp tortellini with alfredo sauce and old-fash- ioned gnocchi. Everything on the menu is made fresh daily, including Therese’s specialty pasta sauces.
“There is something about
being Italian and a love of food –
it’s a really powerful connection,” she says. “Growing up, making home-cooked meals with family was such an important part of everyday life.”
In addition to her restaurant, Therese runs a successful catering business where her team creates one-of-a-kind menus for a variety of events throughout Northeast Ohio, from company meetings to weddings.
For the past few years, That Little Italian Kitchen has won the Canton Repository’s Best of the Best Award for Best Italian Food and Best Caterer, an award that is voted on by members of the community.
Customizable catering
While That Little Italian Kitchen is known for its signature Italian dishes, Therese em- phasizes the flexibility of the catering menu, which features an array of American dishes.
Some highlights include beef tenderloin, chicken wellington, baked ham, homemade macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casse- role and bacon-wrapped chestnuts.
“Don’t let the name fool you because we have an extensive American menu,” Therese says. “My chefs truly go above and beyond to create a completely customized menu for weddings. There is nothing we won’t try.”
something to remember for years to come. “People don’t talk about the chair covers or the color of the plates at your wedding, they talk about the food,” she says. “Food can make or break any event. That’s why the reception dinner is the center of it all for me.”
New venture, new venue
Starting a new venture this year, the Schneiders partnered with the owners of the Metropolitan Event Centre, an elegant events space in the Arts District in down- town Canton. That Little Italian Kitchen is now the exclusive caterer for the venue.
The Metropolitan Event Centre features three breath- taking spaces for wedding ceremonies and receptions. With a dedication to sustain- able design, the venue achiev- ed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its smaller car- bon footprint.
Located on the third floor of the building, the gorgeous his- toric ballroom features ornate architecture, vintage chande- liers, large windows and a stage to accommodate a band or DJ. The gorgeous ballroom, which accommodates up to 300 guests, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
For brides that prefer an out- door wedding, a large rooftop terrace is ideal for smaller ceremonies and receptions. The breathtaking terrace, which holds up to 165 guests, features panoramic views of the Canton skyline. The open and airy glass Atrium, which has a large bar built into the
space, is ideal for cocktail hour.
With a love of people, Therese enjoys get-
ting to know each bride and making them feel at home at the Metropolitan Event Centre. “There are brides that come back months later to show me their wedding photos,” she says. “It brings everything full circle, and I know we helped create something special.” §
That Little Italian Kitchen is also known for its delicious homemade desserts, includ- ing Italian cookies, mini cannolis and around 30 flavors of gelato. “If a bride and groom want a gelato bar at their wedding, we can make it happen,” Therese says. “We love creating those special touches that will wow your wedding guests.”
For Therese and her husband Mike, every wedding is an opportunity to provide an exceptional culinary experience. From hors d’oeuvres to the main course to desserts, That Little Italian Kitchen goes above and beyond to ensure your wedding food is
