wedding guests appreciate the conven- ience of having everything in one location.”
A Rich History
Built between 1930-1931 during the Great Depression, Glenmoor has a rich history in Northeast Ohio. This construc- tion project had a profound impact on the Canton community, and was built by local labor with Belden Brick, East Canton Tile and Republic Steel.
Established as Brunnerdale Seminary High School, the building was home to boys preparing for the priesthood. Peak enrollment was about 400 students in 1968, and the last class to graduate had 13 students in 1980. “The seminary was almost completely self-sufficient – the nearly 400 acres of farmland provided the food necessary to feed students and staff throughout the school year,” Samson says.
After being purchased by new owners, the building made its official debut in 1992 as a country club featuring the Spa at Glenmoor and Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. While many brides assume they must be a member to have their wed- ding at Glenmoor, Samson emphasizes that the venue is open to the public for special events, notably weddings.
Your Very Own Castle
The crown jewel of Glenmoor is the breathtaking Chapel ballroom, which holds up to 300 guests for ceremonies and receptions. Upon walking into this magnif- icent space, you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time to a bygone era. The Chapel features high stone arch- ways, velvet flags, elegant tile floors and vintage wrought-iron candle chandeliers. An impressive stone wood-burning fire- place is the centerpiece of the space and serves as the perfect backdrop to say “I do.”
“We call it the Chapel ballroom because this space was once the seminary’s chapel where they held mass daily and twice on Sundays,” Samson says. “It’s a great option for couples who may not be affiliated with a church but want the feel of a traditional church wedding ceremony. The rich history of the Chapel, along with the spectacular castle-like architecture, sets the stage for a very special wedding day.”
For brides who prefer an outdoor wed- ding ceremony, Glenmoor offers an idyllic patio overlooking Glenmoor’s golf course and gorgeous grounds. This romantic space accommodates up to 250 guests. They recently added a wedding tent, which holdsupto300guestsfor cocktailrecep- tions, that can be personalized with flower arrangements, lighting, table settings and endless décor options. Ideal for cocktail hour, the St. Andrews Room features a pri- vate brick courtyard for guests to mingle during warm-weather months.
