How they met…
Anita’s brother and Jerrod were friends since high school, and that’s how Anita met Jerrod. They became friends and were just friends for a few years before they started dating. Officially they began dating in March 2013; this was right before Jerrod was leaving for a one year deployment in South Korea. With Jerrod being in the army for their three years of dating they went through his deployment in South Korea and then another nine month deployment to Afghanistan. But the long distance relationship made their love strong, and it made them appreciate the small things.
Jerrod took Anita out to shoot guns on July 2, 2016. As they were getting ready to leave he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Anita was shocked and surprised because Jerrod had just arrived home four days prior from getting out of the Army. The two of them returned to the site of the proposal for their engagement photos in the fall.
Favorite wedding memory…
The wedding was so special and memorable to Anita and Jerrod but if they had to pick a favorite moment – besides saying I Do at their church – it was when Anita’s father surprised them by singing their second first dance song. He sang “Hold On” by Michael Bublé. Anita’s mom and dad had kept it a secret so everyone was really excited when he began to sing. It was such a special moment because Anita hadn’t heard him sing in years, and Jerrod had never heard him. It was a moment that meant the world to them!
